John Upchurch
John Upchurch has enjoyed a wide-ranging career, from trombone professor at Northeast Louisiana University and the State University of New York at Potsdam, to Chair of Fine Arts at Brevard College, and Brenau University. He has served as Dean of Admissions and is currently Assistant Vice-President for Enrichment Programs at Brenau University. He has given trombone workshops and clinics for state and national educational meetings, at colleges and universities and for the International Trombone Association Festivals. He has also conducted All-State bands across the country. Perhaps he is best known in the world of trombone as “The Slide Dr.” For over 30 years, he has been repairing trombone slides for performers at every level, as well as educating them on how to keep their instruments working at their very best. He has been a Yamaha Clinician since the early 1970’s. (Yamaha)
