Mark Babbitt
Mark Babbitt is Assistant Professor of Trombone and Associate Director of Bands at Central Washington University. Active as a trombone soloist, clinician, and guest conductor, in Spring 2003, he gave the Northwest premiere of George Crumb's "Star Child" at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, WA and has presented recitals at Eastern Washington University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, McGill University (Montreal, Quebec), and National University of Columbia (Bogotá, Columbia). He is the trombonist with the newly formed Manhasset Brass quintet sponsored by the Manhasset Stand Company.
Babbitt holds degrees in trombone performance from the Eastman School of Music (B.M.) and the Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M.), and completed three years of doctoral studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Winner of the 1999 National Solo Trombone Competition in Washington, D.C. and recipient of Eastman's prestigious Performer's Certificate and Emory Remington Scholarship, his teachers include John Marcellus, Steve Witser, Hal Reynolds, and David Vining.
