Valtteri Malmivirta
Born
in Helsinki, Finland in 1965. He studied in Sibelius-Academy where he graduated
in 1987. He has also studied in London with John Iveson and Arthur Wilson
in 1988-91. He was member of Finnish National Opera Orchestra from 1994-1998.
Since then he has been Principal trombone in Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
He is also very active soloist and chamber musician. He is a member of chamber
music ensembles including Avanti Chamber Orchestra and Nordic Brass Ensemble.
He has performed as a soloist with many Finnish and Scandinavian orchestras.
He has given the first performance for many contemporary Finnish trombone
works. He has performed as a soloist in USA, Russia, Japan, Cuba, Brazil
and many European countries. He was the Host of ITF 2003 Festival.
