Jonas Bylund

Jonas Bylund was born in Gävle, Sweden in 1963. After studies at the State Academy of Music in Stockholm Jonas Bylundhe played principal trombone with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, and later with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Bamberger Symphoniker.
In 1988 Jonas Bylund won 1st prize at the "Concours International d'Execution Musicale" in Geneva, and the following year he also won the ARD-Wettbewerb in Munich. Since then he has performed with many of Europe's leading orchestras, i.e. Orchestre de Suisse Romande, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra London.

Bylund is a member of Stockholm Chamber Brass, one of the worlds leading brass quintets. The Stockholm Chamber Brass won 1st prize at the International Competition for brass quintets in Narbonne, France in 1988.

Alongside his concert career Jonas Bylund has performed as an actor in opera, theater and film.
Since 1995 he has been Professor for Trombone at the Academy of Music in Hannover, Germany. In 2006 his trombone class won the Emory Remington Award, the International Trombone Associations Prize for best trombone ensemble.
