California 2017

The 2017 International Trombone Festival was held in Redlands, California on the historic campus of the University of Redlands, from June 28 to July 1, 2017.

Dr. Andrew Glendening, Dean of the School of Music and Professor of Trombone at the University of Redlands hosted the 46th gathering of the International Trombone Association.

With over 800 attendees, and a faculty/artist roster of some of the top performers and pedagogues in the world, ITF 2017 was a resounding success.

Above, Qu4tre a 4 (Christian Bogaert, Nicolas LaPierre, Philippe Lorthios, and Laurent Queva), performs new French works for trombone quartet, together with soloist David Rejano Cantero. Their Thursday morning program included works by Naulais, Tamper, Lafosse, Michel, Legrand, de Barros, and Colombier.

Faculty

Faculty member Jen Baker leads a group of players in a master class.

Ensembles

The massive Cramer Choir, an ensemble of invited university faculty, performs under the baton of Per Brevig.

Soloists

ITF Soloist Megumi Kanda, Principal Trombonist of the Milwaukee Symphony, performs the premier of Bruce Stark’s “Serenade for a Princess.”
